Halloween Costume: Coraline

This year for Halloween, I had my heart set on going as Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. I was having a hard time wrangling up a worthy costume. Then it came to me to go as Coraline! This year I am having a tiny Halloween Party at my house, and my biggest goal is to have trick or treaters! This is the first place I've ever lived where I could have trick or treaters, but I've always had to work Halloween night. I'm super excited and I wanted to dress up as something maybe some of the kids would recognize.
I didn't realize until researching this that the movie was based on a book. I can't wait to get my hands on it and creep myself out.

I can't decide which outfit I like better?! So tomorrow I am going thrifting to see what I can find. I dyed my hair blue again (but not dark blue yet, I was trying to use up my dye).

If you've never seen the movie, here is the trailer:

What are you going as for Halloween? Are you going to a party or just dressing up for fun?

PS The husband and I have a date tomorrow to go to the corn maize! I'm super stoked!

Taking Flight

This is my Starbucks inspired painting. I did this for me, just for fun! I am trying my hand at some new techniques. The stamp in the center I carved myself a while back. I used scrapbook paper, coffee cozies, glitter glue, acrylic, and charcoal. This mixed media stuff is super fun!

I bought this book by Kelly Rae Roberts. It is super inspiring and there are lots of new techniques to try!

Right now I am waiting on some paint and gesso to dry so I can continue on another painting I am working on. I am recycling some old flat canvases. I think I will try painting on wood again soon, but bigger pieces. I could really use a easel so I can work on my huge cupcake painting! I am still listening to lots of French music, today I threw in the Marie Antoinette soundtrack, and some new Tegan and Sara. Did you know my momma was gonna name me Tegan?! That would have sooo rocked!

What projects are you working on?

A Couple Early B-day Presents

Right now I am watching a True Blood marathon on HBO, drinking some wine, and hanging with the puppies. I got off work early enough this afternoon to go buy some MAC makeup, and make some stew since it was sooo cold today. This week I bought myself a few birthday presents. This book was one of them:

I also bought this CREATE bracelet from Janel's Etsy Store. I had seen a similar one that said cupcake but it sold and now I can't find the shop it was in....lol

I have to work on my birthday, and I am hoping to get to go out for sushi sometime this week. C.cakes has a show NYE that I will be going to that, and it should be really fun. I still haven't decided what I am going to wear....lol
