Harajuku Graffiti

This is my latest painting. I was trying lots of new techniques, so I'm not quite sure what I think about it. I had fun working on the background. It's crazy how many times I thought I 'messed up' on trying new things, but ended up liking the result more than the one I was aiming for.

I was inspired by:
graffiti
 harajuku girls
powerpuff girl ice cream
 Sailor Moon

Tomorrow (if I leave my house), I am planning to get some good quality printer paper and ink to make some prints to put in my etsy store. I had another painting, but the canvas is too wonky to scan in. I can't wait to start on my next painting that is inspired by Princess Mononoke.

I think I've used the work inspired a million times today.

I've been super busy with work and life stuff, but I wanted to do a little post about what's inspiring me this week.

I'm about to hang out with my husband, eat pizza and watch Glee.
Tomorrow I plan to get lots of work done, and hopefully add some stuffs to the Etsy store.

A Vicious Cycle: Inspiration/Motivation

I have this terrible problem of getting super inspired/motivated right when it's time for me to get ready and go to work. Then I go to work, get home and I'm too tired to do anything but sleep. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Well hopefully I can break this vicious cycle soon...in the mean time here are some things that are inspiring me this lovely Friday....

On Sunday I had an hour and 2 magazines to create an inspiration board at work based on the seasons trends. I think it turned out well. I like being able to do fun and creative stuff at work :)

You Tell Me I Am A "Myth"

The 1920's have always been my favourite decade. I recently discovered Louise Brooks.
Brooks is considered one of the first naturalistic actors in film, her acting being subtle and nuanced compared to many other silent performers. The close-up was just coming into vogue with directors, and her almost hypnotically beautiful face was perfect for this new technique. Brooks had always been very self-directed, even difficult, and was notorious for her salty language, which she didn't hesitate to use whenever she felt like it. In addition, she had made a vow to herself never to smile on stage unless she felt compelled to, and although the majority of her publicity photos show her with a neutral expression, she had a dazzling smile. (source Wikipedia)

“You have brought peace to my last years.
For 69 years I have been frantically searching for myself.
And now you tell me that I am a “myth”.
What a blessing.
Henceforth, I shall disintegrate comfortably in bed with my books, cigarettes, coffee, bread, cheese, and apricot jam.
Regards - Louise Brooks”

Louise Brooks in correspondence with Guido Crepax, 1976.

Natalie Portman

Audrey Tautou
I actually bought this magazine recently not realizing it was Lulu on the cover.

Here is a pic of me the day I got my hair cut. I am thinking of dyeing it a bit darker for fall.

Who/what are you inspired by?

Taco Tuesday Wedding Inspiration

I have compiled some pictures of inspiration for my upcoming wedding. Clint's mom is coming by tomorrow and I needed to show her what my vintage french country theme was all about. I have some fabric I like with the colors and patterns that inspire me too. I don't really have a set color, more like muted pastels. These pics were mostly taken from Green Wedding Shoes. I actually did a similar post a while back, here is the link to that post.

This is the inspiration for Clint's outfit I have yet to go shopping for. It's on the list for tomorrow. Clint will be on tour most of April and get back a few days before the wedding, so I will get to pick out something rad for him to wear. He will look so handsome!
I guess tomorrow I will know more and hopefully have a few things checked off my to do list. Please send any songs for my wedding playlist, that would rock! Brooke and I already started a list so far we have:

painting by chagall- the weepies
?- old 97's
turn out the lights- new amsterdams

lol kinda small list...well off to do homework, clean the house, and get ready for doing stuffs tomorrow. i hope there will be lots of cupcakes testing for me to do ;)
