Warby and Parker

My husband and I were introduced to Warby and Parker last year at SXSW. Since my husband is in a band, he ended up getting some free swag, which included a gift certificate to Warby and Parker. My husband desperately needed new glasses, because when he's rocking out on stage his old pair always seems to fly off his face (and had been chewed on by evil puppies). We figured we'd order a pair, use the gift card and then pay the rest. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the gift card paid for the glasses and they were only $95! So I decided to get a pair too.

Several times a day, I get asked:
"Are your glasses real?"
and
"Where did you get your glasses?"
I'm like a walking billboard for Warby and Parker.

I love that there is a company out there like Warby and Parker. They are so amazing and give back not only to the community, but the world. If you are a fan of Toms shoes, then you should be a fan of Warby and Parker. Like Toms, when you buy a pair of glasses, they give a pair to someone in need.

Warby and Parker are also looking out for the environment, their employees, and most of all their customers. They were awesome in helping me figure out my prescription, and got back to me immediately. It was nice to be able to just take a picture of my prescription and email it to them, so they could help me figure out what I was missing. I would say it was the best customer service I have ever received.

So check out their web site and try on a few pairs! They have a digital version or you can get a set of actual glasses to test out at home.

I can't wait to order another pair!

Are you a fan of Warby and Parker? Let me know what you think!

(Ps I am writing this b/c I love Warby and Parker, not b/c I'm being paid to. Thanks!)

Taco Tuesday: My Love For Pikachu

My love for Pikachu will never die. It's funny b/c I just think he's cute, I've never actually played the games or watched the show....

I also love all things Simpson-y. I have acquired 2 rad coffee mugs and a t-shirt from thrift stores.

I love these super cute tattoos. If I ever get on a tattoo kick, I'd like to get something like this.

Lenny Mug makes some rad tea pots!

I am a huge fan of Kyary! I like to see what wacky thing she is up to each week on tumblr.

I am missing my pink hair....but I'm thinking of painting my nails pastel. I know that isn't really equivalent, but lets see if it makes me feel better about not being able to have fun color hair.

Happy Tuesday!

The Secret World of Arrietty

This is the French movie poster. I thought it was magical

My husband and I are big Hayao Miyazaki fans, and we own almost all of his movies. We were excited that The Secret World of Arrietty was actually playing at one of the local theaters!

The movie is based on Mary Norton's 1952 novel "The Borrowers," about a family of miniature people who live in a world hidden from ordinary humans. It was nice to see one of my favorite childhood stories brought to life without 3-D or being "Pixared-to-death" (don't get me wrong, I love Pixar movies).

One of the things Clint and I often talk about Studio Ghibli films, is the attention to detail, even in the backgrounds. In Arrietty, I noticed the attention to detail even went as far as the sound. For instance, when you are smaller certain noises will be louder, like the rustle of clothing or a clock ticking.

We both thought this was film was magical. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD, and maybe I'll get lucky and be able to find the soundtrack (because the music was magical too!).

Check out the trailer

If you've seen the movie, what were your thoughts?

That's What She Said Sunday

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to de-clutter my house, and live a more minimalist life. Well I haven't even started, but I do plan to put away all my clean laundry and possibly clean out more of my closet. You gotta start somewhere, right? I figure as a reward, I can start watching a new Korean Drama....

Tea and All That Jazz

This past week my friend Heather and I went to one of the local coffee shops here in Lubbock, called Good Brews for their Saturday morning waffles and live Jazz music. Since I have been on this no coffee kick recently, and Heather is an expert tea drinker, we were on a mission to try all of their awesome teas.

This is the China Breakfast black tea. It was one of my favorites, but I tend to prefer black tea because of the taste and caffeine.

It was really windy that day, so of course my hair was sticking up all crazy.

This is Heather letting me take her picture, she was a good sport about it.

Yay for waffles! They were delicious!

While there we also tried a Pu-erh Ginger tea, Jasmine Pearl Green tea, and some Yerba Mate. They were all very good!

Throughout the week, Heather and I went to different places to check out and purchase some yummy teas. We went to my local organic grocery store and World Market, and had a blast talking about teas we've tried and ones we needed to try!

I had this chamomile citrus last year at this organic diner in Austin, when we were there for SXSW. I am glad I was able to find it here in Lubbock.
I was so impressed by the first Mighty Leaf Tea I tried, that I wanted to try as many as I could get my hands on! This one is amazing and only lightly caffeinated.

This Tazo Awake tea is what I have been drinking in the morning. I need the caffeine boost to get me started and being an avid coffee drinker I'm still trying to make the transition, so this helps.
At Hastings one day this past week, Heather recommend I try this Blackberry Sage tea from The Republic of Tea. I've been drinking it when I come home from work. It smells heavenly!

My friend Brooke actually turned me onto Twinings Lady Grey. It has a crisp taste that makes me feel British and want to read books.

I hope to soon get into more loose leaf teas. Heather told me I needed this tea maker from Teavana.

What is your favorite tea? I'd like to give it a try! Look forward to more tea related posts in the future!

Fill In The Blank Friday

1.  The highlight of my week was   getting to hang out with my friend Heather, who was visiting from Colorado .

2.   If I had to classify my interior design aesthetic it would be    vintage diner meets Hello Kitty and That 70's Show (it's a hot mess)  .

3.  My first vehicle was   a granny race car (that = oldsmobile) .

4. An item I need to have in my day in order to function is   my healing crystals .

5. My favorite way to waste time is  by puttering around on tumblr, watching Korean Dramas, and reading manga .

6. Right now I could really go for   a taco and a Bloody Mary   .

7.  This weekend I will be   chillaxin, b/c I'm off and that's what cool kids do .

Oh Hi March

I don't know if any of you have ever seen the worst movie ever called 'The Room', I don't recommend watching it unless you want to get all my references to the movie (which aren't even that funny). The things you do for your friends (like watch terrible movies).

In other news I plan to make the 'Kyary' squishy fish face all month (I'm practicing as I type this), you should make it too.

I'm excited to be sponsoring over at Mermaid Eyes this month! Check out Kayte's magical blog!

I have big plans for my blog this month, and have been making lists and lists of things to talk about. I also have some projects to finish so I can (finally) update my etsy store. So stay tuned for more info and fun stuff (like giveaways).

Since I just finished the Korea Drama (Shining Inheritance) I was watching (and if I don't start a new one), I'll have even more free time to get things done (like spring cleaning) or watching Supernatural and eating tacos.

What are some of your plans for March?

Mine is to use an outrageous number of (parenthesis) in blog posts...j/k (or not...)
