Today I asked a girl where she got her shoes, which led me to looking on the Urban Outfitters web site, which led to me wishing it was fall. We don't have an UO around here, but I wish we did. This years trends are right up my ally, a very arty grunge 90's vibe that I love! I can't wait to mix it up with some of these awesome looks, since I own several similar pieces. If only my feet could take wearing wedge heels all day! A girl can dream.....
What is your fav look? I'm really loving the first 2!
I've spent my entire morning chasing puppies in the ally and working on a new blog layout/banners. It only took 2 cups of coffee and one burnt hand to get it done! I used My Memories Suite and a little Photoshop magic and viola! PS If you didn't know I am giving away a free copy of My Memories Suite! To enter go here!
I also reopened my etsy store 0nce More With Feeling.
Although there are no items listed yet, I plan to list a few in the next couple of days and more as I create them. Today I plan to go price scanners, printers, and papers so I can make awesome prints of my paintings at home.
Let me know what you think of my new blog layout! Feedback is much appreciated!
I'm off to shower, dye my hair purple, and run some errands before I go hang out with T and help her try on wedding dresses! Ciao!
Sometimes I get excited and make crazy decisions. While browsing through my google reader, I came upon this post from Fancy Treehouse. In this post was the cat lady bag of my dreams and I knew I had to snatch it up immediately or have 'that could've been yours' dreams.
I can't wait for this amazing find to arrive and continue my mission to become a cat lady (well un-cat lady, since I have dogs).
Here is a close up of a section of my most recent painting. I would like to think it's done, but if there was one thing I learned in college, it's that there's always something more and it's never done. I'm stepping away from this painting for a little bit, but I wanted to share. Lyrics: 'I hold sunlight and swallow firelies' are from Brightly Wound by Eisley. I listen to lots of Eisley while painting.
Today I recently stumbled upon an old post I did when I first bought Kelly Rae Roberts book Taking Flight and wanted to share since I am taking her e-course. Her book really inspired me to start painting again.
I was super excited to experience digital scrapbooking! I've spent most of the day playing, downloading freebies, and watching tutorials. Using the My Memories Suite software I was able to create all sorts of magic!
1. If it's on my computer I can use it. I can use a picture of my cute pup Loki as the background or add in my own artwork as an embellishment.
2. Being digital means I can try something, hate it, delete it, and try something different.
3. Super cost effective! I don't have to run out and buy a million different papers, glues, glitter, stickers, stamps, etc. There are tons of sites that offer freebies like Shabby Princess and My Memories. Go ahead and google your heart out.
4. Being able to create more than scrapbooks! You can create photocards, calenders, multi-media books, and probably a million others things. I can't wait to get a head start on Christmas gifts!
5. I am also a big fan of the blank page. I like my pages to be simple and I like to start with a blank canvas. But a wonderful feature for new scrapbookers or those in a hurry, are the awesome pre-made pages that you can just drop pictures in and adjust as you like.

This month I've been a sponsor over at Lariats and Lavender. I asked Angie if I could do a little fun interview for my post today...let the wackiness ensue.....
1. What is your favorite flavor of cupcake? Oh wow... I really, really love a good cupcake. Lately: Red Velvet. I just tried my very first one a week or so ago! SO GOOD. I also love a good carrot cupcake! This Autumn, I can't wait to try a pumpkin flavored one. Mmmm! 2. Why did you start blogging?
My main reason for starting a blog - and this will sound cheesy - was to make friends around the world! To learn more about different lifestyles, religions, cultures and interests. And to share my own! It's been absolutely wonderful and I've made some amazing friends along the way. (That includes you, Mrs. Miller! ^_-) 3. If you had super powers, what would they be?
I'd LOVE super strength. Let's take today for example. I was walking, and I ran into the store for cat food and soda. I came out, walked home and my hands were killing me. From ONE bag. SUPER STRENGTH FOR THE WIN! 4. Would you play a round of Dance Dance Revolution with me? What song would we dance to?
Ooooh, yes, I'd totally dance with you. The song we'd dance to would be... Venus from Bananarama. I think that would get a lot of laughs. ^_^ If I could pick any song in the world, it'd be Ballroom Blitz by Sweet. LOVE that song. Total chair dancing goes on when I listen to that song. 5. What is your biggest passion?
My marriage, for sure. I love my wife, who's name is Jen! We've been together eight years, since I was 13 and married for almost four of them. She is my best friend, my wife and my soul mate in one. ♥ We're planning our hand-fasting, at the moment. We have no idea when we'll be able to have it, but it's something we're both passionate about. When we DO do our hand-fasting, it'll be for Forever and a Day! ^_^ 6. Do you have any favorite artists/illustrators?
7. If you could be any Sanrio (Hello Kitty and Friends) character, who would you be?
Oh man... I love them all. Hello Kitty is pretty epic in my book, but for the sake of going with something different, I'd choose... I'd say Charmmy Kitty! I especially love that she was born on Halloween!!! My favorite holiday. ^_^ 8. What's some of the best advice you've ever received? Do you have any to give?
Well, this may sound silly, but the best advice I've ever gotten has been quotes from movies and people. Here are a few of my favorites, that I live by: "Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one!" - Doc Brown, Back To The Future III. "There is no amount of compensation to make up for time away from those you love." - not sure where I heard this one. :( But it's so true! It's why I dream of working from home! And finally "Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself" - again, not sure. I need to do some research! Oh and I have my own, that I made up. "Dream. Believe. Do." Dream what you want. Believe in it. Do it! As for what advice I could give: Be yourself. Seriously. Being unique, and we ALL are unique, even those who wish to be part of the crowd. We're all different for a reason! And believe in true love, in soul mates, in happiness, in luck. Believe in the unbelievable. Also, and this one may sound harsh, but it's true. Family is NOT always "blood is thicker than water." Sometimes, you really will have a family member who you can't be around. For whatever reason. It's *okay.* Family is those who treat you right, who you love, who you enjoy being around. Blood or otherwise! 9. If you could name your own sno-cone flavor, what would it be. What color is it?
Hmmmm. My Bloody Valentine! It'd be a reddish-pink, with Blood Orange and Rose flavoring. Why? Because it's a fun name and kinda vampy. ;) 10. What is your favorite children's book or story?
Oh geesh. I loved series' growing up. Especially The Magic Tree House, The Bailey School Children and the Amelia's Notebook series! Oh and OF COURSE, The American Girl Doll Series. Now, as an adult, I'd LOVE to read The Brothers Grimm stories, the *real* stories behind the fairy-tales we know today. 11. If you were a Gundam Pilot, what would be the name of your Gundam?
Oh man, I don't know much about this series (for shame.) So I Googled! If I had to pick one word, it'd be Raikou (Lightning in English.) If I could pick two, it'd be Metallic Butterfly. ^_-
12. Tell us a secret.... I am still REALLY afraid of the dark... Yet on the other hand, I love the night, love the dark and love the peacefulness of my night owl ways. So it's a kind of weird phobia. When I go down into the kitchen in the middle of the night, I can't turn any lights on otherwise the in-laws would wake up. So I open the microwave door, light goes on. I open the fridge door, light goes on. Than I feel better. As long as I don't let my eyes scan the rest of the room. (...that sounds like a kick butt opening to a scary book, haha!)
A big thank you to Angie for playing along with some of my silly questions. Please check out her blog and see what she's up to. If you would like to answer these silly questions or want me to make up some new ones just for you, leave a comment or shoot me an email at cupquakedesign{at}yahoo{dot}com.
you'll be seeing more pics from this look book soon. Ps is anyone else in love with that crazy cat bag?
I'm loving this blue hair. I think I'll be redying it tonight, but this time with the husband's help.
I don't have any Bythe dolls, and I'm not really sure what I would do with one if I owned it. I also think they are creepy and cute, but a little more creepy. I had this scary movie moment as a child when I woke in the middle of the night to have my Rainbow Brite doll (with painted on eyes) blink at me (I could see b/c of the night light). I threw the doll on the floor and never played with it again. I'm not sure if it was my active imagination or accidentally seeing a Chucky movie...
PS My hair is that awesome mermaid color right now!
1. My most favorite birthday was my 22nd birthday? It was the year T and Shana and Heather baked a million strawberry cupcakes for my party and we danced all night to Gold Digger and My Humps lol .
2. My worst birthday wasI think that one year when my boyfriend of like 7 years didn't show up to my party... or this year when I forced everyone to go see Black Swan and then wished we were watching Tangled...(did Black Swan traumatize anyone else?) .
3. My favorite birthday memory is my 21st birthday, which was kinda lame lol A big group of my friends went and ate at Red Lobster and I got to order fancy cocktails. Later I went home and my sis and bf had gotten me a Hello Kitty cake and balloon bouquet. My mom got me a Casio Keyboard b/c I wanted to learn to play 'A Whole New World' from Alladin .
4. The best birthday present I've ever received wasthe first gift Clint ever gave me for my birthday, which was a Hello Kitty toaster lol I love it and use it to this day .
5. The best birthday present I've ever given was oh geez, I'm not sure...I think the best gift I could give my husband would be tickets to a Yann Tiersen concert though... .
6. Birthdays are my least favorite thing to celebrate for me since my birthday is on a holiday (New Years Eve) and my husband usually has a show and is playing on stage while I'm in the crowd all lonely with a bunch of drunkards... .
7. My favorite age so far has been 23 or 24 where I was wild and crazy and took off around the country and sang lots of Karaoke .
Here is a sneak peak of a few things I've been working on. I've been hard at work sketching, designing, and sewing.
This is a sketch from my sketchbook of my little mushroom bandit. She is now on a canvas with a mysterious backdrop for all her diabolical mischief. She's not complete yet, I've had to step away to gain some insight on how to finish her up. But I do plan to make some screenprinted totes with her on them, to spread her mischief around the world...
I usually tend to make gifts for people, then later realize I should keep making those because they are super cute! I made these lovely Funny Head Girls for my nieces. I am new to sewing and have been teaching myself, so sometimes I make mistakes, but in this case I loved that their heads came out funny shaped. Right now I am working on new patterns for my doll line. I can't wait to share with you all the new Funny Head Girls.
This Pink Power Ranger plushie also started out as a gift, and now I am making 2 more! These have been super popular with my friends and can't wait to see where I go from here on this fun project!
What are you working on these days? Leave me a link in the comments, I'd like to check it out and support you! xo
I had a really good few days off! Tomorrow is back to work. I have lots of projects that I am working on, and hopefully pretty soon I will be able to share. In the mean time, I'm in a good/wacky mood and I just might explode. So here is some cuteness to make your day brighter!
In a perfect world Hello Kitty and Pikachu would be best friends!
My dogs would look amazing in chain mail as they patrol the lands....lol I mean backyard. And this makes me think of Merlin (Giles in chainmail!) and of course I've been going to sleep to Fellowship of the Ring (b/c that's how I roll).
Me and my mom's facebook chat conversation about my hair. She hates it, and likes to let me know every chance she gets.
You will be mine houndstooth Toms! This will be my reward for making all the products needed to open my etsy store! Now I just want to work, work, work until the break of dawn!
I was tagged over at Lariats and Lavender for this underwear challenge. So here goes...
1.What do you call your panties/underwear/undergarments? Do you have any commonly used nicknames for them?
i call them pannies lol even my husbands boxers get called pannies...it's to the point that he calls them that now too.
2. Have you ever had that supposedly common dream of being in a crowded place in only your underwear?
This was one of those common dreams when I was in high school. I'm glad someone made a movie about my life. The best part is at the end:
3. What is the worst thing you can think of to make panties out of?
I would say something gross like eyeballs or intestines? lol that just sounds horrible.
4. If you were a pair of panties, what colour would you be?
5. Have you ever thrown your panties/underwear at a rock star or other celebrity? If so, which one(s)? If not, which one(s) WOULD you throw your panties/underwear at, given the opportunity?
Well there was this one time when we went to Austin for the Buffy All Nighter Musical at the Alamo Drafthouse. We all went and bought panties to throw at the screen during a particular spot. (I was so not throwing my pannies! I love my pannies!)
6. You're out of clean panties. What do you do?
I could never be out of clean pannies! I buy them too often to run out. But I would just go buy some. Aerie is calling my name!
7. Are you old enough to remember Underroos? If so, did you have any? Which ones?
ummm...no
8. If you could have any message printed on your panties, what would it be?
I have some with messages on them...I don't remember what they say. Maybe something like 'cute is as cute does'
9. How many bloggers does it take to put panties on a goat?
What a weird question. I vote it would take one to get kicked in the face and everyone would give up trying.
