Illustrator, Wizard, and all around good guy.

Today I wanted to spotlight artist Danny Brito. I think all of his work is amazing and whimsical. Definitely an inspiration. Here are a few of his amazing treasures:

I am in love with this bag with the yellow bow. I wish it was still for sale...

I bet all wizards are as cool as Danny Brito.....

On My!

This week I have a couple of spectacular things to share:
I purchased this cute Peggy bag from Kara's Clearance sale today!
I can't wait to snatch up one of these cozy hand stitched pullovers from Stuff Kara Made.

The other day I got a message saying my print was featured in a treasury! I was super excited!

I really loved this canvas print from Kellie Rae Roberts.

What are you loving this week? Anything spectacular happen?

Open for Business

I finally got to make a few prints and list them in my etsy store! There is only one item, but you have to start somewhere right? More to come soon! I have some doll ideas in the works, more prints, tees and totes!

Do you have an etsy store? Link it up, I'd love to check it out!

Harajuku Graffiti

This is my latest painting. I was trying lots of new techniques, so I'm not quite sure what I think about it. I had fun working on the background. It's crazy how many times I thought I 'messed up' on trying new things, but ended up liking the result more than the one I was aiming for.

I was inspired by:
graffiti
 harajuku girls
powerpuff girl ice cream
 Sailor Moon

Tomorrow (if I leave my house), I am planning to get some good quality printer paper and ink to make some prints to put in my etsy store. I had another painting, but the canvas is too wonky to scan in. I can't wait to start on my next painting that is inspired by Princess Mononoke.

I think I've used the work inspired a million times today.

Swallow Fireflies

I have a busy weekend ahead of me:
tomorrow is the Eisley show! I'm stoked!
Saturday I'm headed to SA to visit the fam and do crazy stuff with Avery.
I'll try blogging from my phone, but I make no promises.

Maybe when I get back home I'll have time to take pictures of the paintings I've been working on and start on another one (that I'm super excited about because I love love the sketch)....

I'm off to drink wine, look at weather reports, try packing, eat ice cream and probably eat more ice cream.

Have a rad weekend!

More Adventurous

It seems like time is flying by and soon September will be over. There is so much going on this time of year and it just picks up with all the holidays. Today I focused on making a tentative schedule to try to fit in some studio time and yoga. Clint and I took a journey to Hastings today and had a fun little date at Chipotle, where we sat on the patio. Since I've been home I've been working on this painting. It actually looked very different before...I've decided to take a break because I've been staring at this for 3 hours.

This little marshmallow-y goodness was at Hastings and it sang me a little song...

I actually took this picture last week at the Bluelight. I thought it turned out pretty cool.

I haven't done iphone outfit posts in a while.....

paramore t-shirt
aerie pants of awesomeness
cardigan from ross
spiderman mug from ross

toadies baseball tee vintage
blazer from the little sister
jeans levi's and the husband's
shoes rock n candy
coffee from starbucks

I made lots of faces into my phone this week. I was also called an old lady with a fine body....I'm pretty sure that guy was stoned.

Taking Flight: Take Two

Here is a close up of a section of my most recent painting. I would like to think it's done, but if there was one thing I learned in college, it's that there's always something more and it's never done. I'm stepping away from this painting for a little bit, but I wanted to share. Lyrics: 'I hold sunlight and swallow firelies' are from Brightly Wound by Eisley. I listen to lots of Eisley while painting.

Today I recently stumbled upon an old post I did when I first bought Kelly Rae Roberts book Taking Flight and wanted to share since I am taking her e-course. Her book really inspired me to start painting again.

Sneak Peak

Here is a sneak peak of a few things I've been working on. I've been hard at work sketching, designing, and sewing.

This is a sketch from my sketchbook of my little mushroom bandit. She is now on a canvas with a mysterious backdrop for all her diabolical mischief. She's not complete yet, I've had to step away to gain some insight on how to finish her up. But I do plan to make some screenprinted totes with her on them, to spread her mischief around the world...

I usually tend to make gifts for people, then later realize I should keep making those because they are super cute! I made these lovely Funny Head Girls for my nieces. I am new to sewing and have been teaching myself, so sometimes I make mistakes, but in this case I loved that their heads came out funny shaped. Right now I am working on new patterns for my doll line. I can't wait to share with you all the new Funny Head Girls.

This Pink Power Ranger plushie also started out as a gift, and now I am making 2 more! These have been super popular with my friends and can't wait to see where I go from here on this fun project!

What are you working on these days? Leave me a link in the comments, I'd like to check it out and support you! xo

Holy Freaking Pink Batman!

Today I went to Michael's in search of canvas and whatever nick nacks I feel the urge to pick up along the way. In the end I just wanted to use my coupon that I had printed off their website. I have been on this huge I want to use coupons and save money kick, but I totally suck at it. Once I get to the register with my canvas, doilies, and sale yarn I notice I have to spend 2 more dollars to use my lovely coupon. I grab up a bubble wand and I'm like lets do this! The cashier dude scans my coupon and EPIC FAIL! He says it doesn't work on discounted or sale items (which was everything but my dumb $2 bubble wand). Needless to say, instead of holding up the line I sadly pay for my items and pout my way out the door. But hey, I do have a nifty bubble wand and learned a valuable lesson in reading the fine print.
Did I mention I kind of accidently dyed my hair HOT FREAKING PINK?! An old man came up to me today at Barnes and Noble to tell me how much he liked it.

I'm going to spend the rest of my day watching Roswell, painting, possibly eating gummy bears, and hugging puppies.

Fighting Fires With Arrows

Random Post GO!

I spent my entire weekend watching Harry Potter. I did manage to get some paint on the walls in the dining room. My goal for today is to do a second coat and finish up the edges. I am also making a curtain for the dining room. Clint said he wanted a cafe curtain, so I'll see if I can figure that out, without his mom helping me.

My walls are this buttery color, and I am doing the trim red.

This brooch is from etsy, I can't remember the shop, but I'm sure it sold. I am in love with it! I love adding a little flair to my blazer or cardigan!
I like to eat cool whip, sad but true, my husband thinks I'm weird.

It seems celebs these days are cutting off all their hair and I LOVE IT! Emma Watson looks amazing, and I just saw these pictures of Ashlee Simpson-W. I did the pixie cut once and it did not look good on me, take a look here. Almost makes me want to do something crazy, but I'll hold off b/c I just died my hair and doing too much might make people's heads explode.

I love my little pink DS. One of my fav games is Cooking Mama! It makes me happy and helps me relax. I carry my DS around in my bag for times when I have a blow out on the highway in the middle of no where and I am waiting on a rescue. You know emergency bored-ness.
What do you do when you are bored?

JUST A PS: check out my husband's band in this issue of Magnet. Click on the link for some free downloads from the new album.

To Do

Every week I seem to make a to do list and see what I can cross off. Some stuff seems to carry over through the months lol but I keep trying.

TO DO:
1. Paint dining room wall and test out trim color.
2. Make curtain for dining room.
3. Make awesome curtain I saw in a magazine (more on that later).
4. Work on my Children's book. (I have the best idea!)
5. Finish cupcake painting. (never ending...its a huge canvas!)
6. Get my guest room ready for guests.
7. Apply for teaching positions/substitute teacher.

I am going to stop there lol b/c it just starts to get out of control.

What do you have going on this week?

Je ne suis la belette de personne.

It's 1 am and I'm still up...shocker I know! I have been doodling, and was inspired by coffee/starbucks...tomorrow I may paint a little painting and show you :)

I want to do a little painting in my kitchen, and on canvas and other found objects tomorrow! You should too...
I've been listening to these two cd's non stop recently. French music has been really relaxing/inspiring....

I want to try some of these wedge sha-booties!
I can't walk in heels, but these seem a bit more sturdy? right? lol
I guess I should go to sleep and cuddle with my snoring puppies...I only have a minor...scratch that major headache from red bull withdrawls...sigh...

Taco Tuesday 5am Addition

I have been wide awake since 5 am. Don't ask me why, I have no idea?! Duo couldn't sleep either so here we are....and I still need to get my car inspected...
I love this little painting studio! I have been in the mood to paint! I bought a huge canvas yesterday, and I plan to paint a huge cupcake to go in my dining room!
This movie cracks me up....I need to watch it again.
ME you are too cute!
I have cupcakes on the brain....
I have a kit from Michael's to make my own cupcake apron! I can't wait to make some time to do it!
I am the proud owner of these cookie cutters!
I saw this at Pier1 and had to have it! It matches my kitchen perfectly!
I am crushing on this album!
I can't stop listening to this on my old ipod lol...
The mailman woke me up yesterday to deliver these mocs from Darlingtonia, by far the most comfy shoes on the planet!
