World's Greatest

When I met Clint I worked at a pottery studio. He once asked me if people wrote or painted inappropriate things on their pottery. Of course people didn't. But he said wouldn't it be funny if they did. So I made him this "World's Greatest (fill in the blank)" mug. Today I'm drinking ice water out of it and thinking my husband is the best! On his days off he kills mutant rose bushes and alien weeds as tall as our house, mops and dusts, does laundry, and takes out the trash.

All I do is listen to French music, cuddle with puppies, and bake muffins.

Wizard Love

Sometimes your husband texts you the cutest things. I've been told my husband looks like Sirius Black, just saying....although he says he gets Harry Potter at work, but he wishes he was Dumbledore....

Which house would you be in? I want to say I'd be in Gryffindor, but my luck I'd be in Slytherin....

That's What She Said Sunday

Today was for bacon, decaf coffee, forgetting coupons, hanging with the hubs, eating hot dogs, watching Batman....

And buying new bras...

Happy Sunday!

Bag Lady: Diaper Bag Style

My sister told me the day of the purse is over when you have kiddos, and enter the age of the diaper bag. Since I am a bag lady, and have a huge collection of purses, totes, clutches....well you get the point, this diaper bag thing has had me pretty worried.  I've been researching and looking at different ideas, because I want my 'diaper bag' to be functional and cute (and not plastic). I've scoured the globe Pinterest and Etsy and found a few cuties....

Both of these bags are from the etsy store Krust.

On my quest for the elusive perfect diaper bag, I've noticed they're a bit pricey...so I'm looking into alternatives. Any ideas or suggestions?

What's The What

This week I've had a boost in energy and I feel a tiny bit accomplished. I've been researching and fleshing out my idea for the childrens book that's been stuck in my head for years.

I wore a maternity dress lol...

My bump is growing!

I made home made chicken nuggets that were so yummy, I might make them again tomorrow1

And I've been making lists and lists of baby names...

That's what I've been up to this week, (besides watching True Blood) what have you been up to?

What's In A Name

The number 1 question I get asked now that you can kinda tell I'm pregnant is, "Is is a boy or girl?" Well, we still don't know, only a few more weeks until we do! I can't wait.

The second question I get asked is, "Have you thought of any names?" I can now say that yes, we have begun to think of names, and it's hard! We are trying to come up with boy and girl names, and boy names are difficult. I think we have 2 on the boy's list. There is so much to think about when naming a child, because they will have to live with that name forever! Also, we are indecisive hipsters....

Any suggestions to add to my list?

Quit Your Day Job?

Today starts the first day of my stay-cation. I actually took off to go to Colorado with my husband and his band, but I decided a 10 hour drive in a van may not be the best idea for pregnant me. So it's me, the pups, and the baby bump.

As I was cleaning out and organizing all the pictures on my computer, I came across this picture of me before I moved here and worked at a pottery studio. (I'm pretty sure my mom sister took this picture.) This picture got me thinking about jobs. I loved my job at the pottery studio and on my day off on Monday's I taught private art lessons. I never dreaded going to work, and even though I didn't make very much money I felt accomplished and happy.

Clint and I have been talking lots about what were are going to do once the baby arrives. He really doesn't want me to work, and I want to stay home and be the best mom I can be. But then we have bills to think about, and I'd like to keep contributing so my husband doesn't feel burdened.
I've been thinking of things I can do from home, and working on projects that make me happy. I'm hoping this will lead to a more permanent stay at home career doing something I love.  I also hope to one day, open up an art studio here in town and teach to those who have a passion for art.

But for now, I'm working on writing my children's book, and working on lots of art related projects to eventually fill my etsy store with.

How did you transition to stay at home mom? Or did you return to work? Have you quit your day job to do your dream job?

I frequently read the quit your day job posts on the etsy blog. Anyone else do that?

Well time to get dressed and go watch the Katy Perry movie by myself....I hope I get the cool 3D glasses!

That's What She Said Sunday

"hey girl, I thought it would be nice to bring you coffee. I hope this is hot enough for you."

Let's all enjoy our coffee (or tea) and be less grouchy today.

Morning Things and a Baby Update

This morning I am sitting at my kitchen table enjoying some tea, reading blogs, thinking of baby names, and trying to brush the tangles out of this rats nest I call hair.

Since becoming pregnant my hair has grown so fast! My hair is way past my shoulders and almost to the middle of my back. I can't decide if I want to cut it or not. Maybe a trim is in order...

Yesterday I had a doctors appointment and things seem to be going well. The baby is still rocking and rolling in there. I felt it kick for the first time. It kinda felt like a butterfly trying to escape my tummy. I did loose a few pounds instead of gaining any weight, and my nausea is starting to slow down, so I'm focusing on eating healthy and as much as I can. My husband's orders are to eat more hamburgers. Haha.

What's The What....

Time to get caught up with what's been going on for the past couple of weeks...

My husband rolled back into town a few weeks ago just in time to play at the Buddy Holly Summer Showcase. Apparently I was "Spotted" and ended up in the local paper:

This is my cute face husband....
And PapaCakes rocking out!

Thankfully it's been a bit cooler here with some rain, which I appreciate since I have no A/C in my car right now....
Top: Billabong, Jeggings: Bullhead, Boots: Black Poppy. Awake Tazo Tea from Starbucks...

Duo was in desperate need of a hair cut. They call this the teddy bear face...how cute is that?!

I have a new boss and we made a bet and I won, so today I had my first cupcake since becoming pregnant and so far so good...unless you count most of it ending up on my dress....

Blazer: TJ Maxx, Dress: Francesca's Collection, Tights: Vera Wang, Belt: Pacsun, Flats: Lucky, Almonds from Starbucks.

Last night Clint took a pic of my baby bump...almost 17 weeks

Speaking of what I wear to work, yesterday I got in trouble for the jeggings I was wearing. Oh wells, they wouldn't stay up anyway. Now for the breakdown....

I think you can sorta see my baby bump in this one.

Today we are headed to the ranch to hang with family. I was told to bring a swim suit. After trying on all the ones I own, I actually found one that still fits and doesn't make me look like a pregnant prostitute. Hooray! It's the small things in life. :)

Happy 4th!
