Happy Hooker

My husband has been trying to teach me to crochet. You may be confused by that sentence, but it is no joke! lol. He and I learned to knit together a few years ago by using Debbie Stoller's first book Stitch N Bitch. He understands how to read and figure out the stuff, me I'm kinda hopeless. So Clint figures it out and teaches me. :) We knitted many a scarf while watching 10 seasons of Stargate SG1.

So I have tried teaching myself with this book, thinking I can knit I can figure out how to crochet....wrong...for some reason I am making it super hard. So last night Clint taught me a few basics and I like to watch videos on youtube to get a visual. Clint says crocheting is way easier and faster!
One of the main reasons I want to crochet is to make granny squares. I don't know if you recall last year at Urban Outfitters they had tons of crocheted home decor: pillows and afghans! Unfortunately they were too expensive for my budget, and I always think, 'I can make that'! (PS the 'I can make that' motto keeps me from buying lots of things!)

I just found this video (and photo cred) on tipdeck.com. I haven't tried watching the video yet, but it looked promising!
I am also watching the videos on favcrafts.com

I found this pattern via Muffins and More. The creator of this awesome pattern is sukigirl, and she has loads of other fun patterns too! This is going to be one of my first not in the book projects. On Sukigirl's blog she said she is a slow tea drinker and this keeps her tea warmer longer. I have that problem too! (Photo cred sukigirl).

This is a cool pattern I would love to try later when I am awesome! Found via crafster.org

I can not wait for this game to come out! I am a huge fan of cooking mama and gardening mama. I bet this game will be super fun! You can buy this game when it comes out and all the others on amazon.com.

Thanks so much for your nice comments on my mug warmers...very sweet of you!
I learned crochet from that same book but I also went to videos to make sure I was doing it right.

I think it's amazing that you and Mr. Miller learned to knit together and now crochet....very cool.
I also added your blog to my google reader since I've enjoyed reading it.
Good luck with your crochet...I'm sure you guys will be amazing at it.

Oh man I totally feel ya on learning how to crochet! I had been knitting and everyone says that crocheting is soooo much easier... It took me like a YEAR to learn! (Not an entire year, I mean I tried a few times over the course of a year.) My mom knows how to, so she tried to teach me... I couldn't figure it out. I watched youtube videos, it frustrated me.

Finally one night I just sat down, watched a youtube video over and over and over (took about 3 hours) and I FINALLY figured it out and I made a granny square blanket SO fast! Well, I had to keep going out to buy more yarn, ha. It's SO addicting and SO much easier than knitting, and you see a result a loooooot faster. But I still love to knit. :) GOOD LUCK with learning! You will be able to do it and once you figure it out you won't understand why it took you so long to do it! Haha. Have fun learning and try to not get so frustrated, you WILL be able to do it!
